World Vegan Day Celebration and Live Broadcast

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Oct. 19, 2015 - PRLog -- World Vegan Day is November 1. On October 30, KCMJ and JL Fields, host of the KCMJ radio show Easy Vegan, are throwing a huge celebration – featuring community groups, local restaurants, and fabulous vegan prizes – for local vegans, vegetarians, veg-curious, and veg-friendly community members. The nominal ticket price ($5 in advance; $7 at the door) benefits KCMJ. Ticket holders get one FREE entry into a drawing with prizes valued at nearly $500.

“When the first episode of Easy Vegan broadcast in August I knew we were on to something,” said Fields. “Vegan or not,” she continued, “our community is genuinely interested in learning about healthier diets and environmentally friendly lifestyles.” Guests have included authors, chefs and thought-leaders – including Victoria Moran, Gene Baur, Ginny Messina, and Chef Ayinde Howell. Local spotlights on groups include Sisterhood of the Traveling Pets and Harley’s Hope Foundation.

“JL has amazing enthusiasm and knowledge about her subject, she is respected around the world for her expertise, and she has turned out to be a natural on-air host and program producer,” observed KCMJ General Manager Dave Gardner. “We’re excited to be presenting the first and only vegan radio show in the country.” “Increasing numbers of people are embracing veganism for their health, for the environment, and/or out of respect for other species,” noted Dennis Apuan, chair of the Colorado Media Justice Foundation, which operates KCMJ. "KCMJ is pleased to be part of important conversations like this, whether as community celebrations or radio shows."

The event – 6 to 8 pm at the Tim Gill Center for Public Media – will include a LIVE broadcast from 6:30 – 7. Fields will interview community attendees and representatives from local groups and businesses:
