What does this mean for consumers? A recall will happen, basically asking millions of cars to go to the dealerships to change their computer systems accordingly. This means too that consumers will lose their gas mileage my several miles per gallon. The affected diesel models include the 2009-15 Volkswagen Jetta, 2009-15 Beetle, 2009-15 Golf, 2014-15 Passat and 2009-15 Audi A3.
How did they get away with this? They imbedded cheat software within their computer programming that is specifically designed to conceal the vehicles’ emission of nitrogen oxide. This is a pollutant that contributes to the creation of ozone and smog, and is also linked to a vast range of health problems, including asthma attacks, respiratory issues as well as premature death.

California has issued its own violations to coincide with the US EPA investigations. Lawyers will surely be launching class action suits against the auto giant since the public was greatly misled. 2016 models are now on hold as they continue to scramble for a fix.
In Tampa, auto repair shops following Florida law know that their is a heafty fine for removing or modifying emmision controls on a motor vehicle. It will be interesting to see what the entire world will fine Volkswagen / Audi for this scandal.
