Masala! Awards Announce Addition of “Unsung Hero” Category for 2015
'Unsung Heroes' category will invite UAE residents to nominate people whose humanitarian work, they feel, truly deserves to be recognized and rewarded.
The criteria is simple. An Unsung Hero is someone who devotes time to causes that impact society. He/she is someone whose contributions to the community may be starkly obvious or little known. They could be the brains behind an idea that has changed several lives or merely be individuals who take time to help the less privileged; It may even be that one act of kindness that has touched somebody’s life and changed it for the better.
“It is indeed, both humbling and a matter of great pride that we have discovered so many people with their hearts in the right place. People who give of that precious commodity of time without hesitation and condition and are ready to help those in need. Not just time but also effort and expense to make life a little easier,” said Sonya Rahman, Ahlan Masala! Editor, ITP.
Masala’s initiative to recognise Unsung Heroes has been highlighted as an important pillar in our community and culture and has been received extremely well by readers in general with a wide range of nominations for this special category pouring in already.
Stand-up comedian Nitin Mirani put it very well when he added that unsung heroes are folks like the rest of us with courage and dedication who care and believe that the world can be a better place if all of us spare a moment for those less fortunate.
