VIA, Inc. Kicks off 2015 Translation Grant Program

In-kind translation services will be awarded to support two nonprofit or pro bono organizations serving Limited English Proficiency Communities
PORTLAND, Ore. - Oct. 14, 2015 - PRLog -- VIA, Inc., a leading translation and localization provider, is now accepting grant applications for its seventh annual Translation Grant Program. The VIA Translation Grant is a unique in-kind donation program awarding translation services to organizations actively serving limited English proficiency (LEP) communities.

Since 2008, the VIA Translation Grant has provided more than $25,000 of in-kind translation to support projects across the U.S. including Akron Children’s Hospital’s refugee community, Health Plan of San Mateo’s Latino version of their successful weight management program SHAPEDOWN® and Providence Hospital’s Diabetes Education Program in Washington, D.C. This year, VIA will award two grants. First place will receive $2,000 of in-kind translation services and the runner up will receive $1,000 of in-kind translation services to support their LEP communities.

“Giving back is part of the VIA DNA and we are so thankful for the opportunity to support organizations in their efforts to remove language barriers and improve life for their underserved, ethnic communities,” said Nic McMahon, Chief Operating Officer. “Approximately one in five people in the U.S. speak another language than English at home and are in need of language services to live life to the fullest."

Local nonprofit and service organizations are invited to submit a grant application through October 30, 2015. Grant application instructions are located here: http://www2.viadelivers.com/l/17482/2015-04-14/tq85t. A selection committee will narrow down and identify the projects that provide the most long term benefits to the community. The public will then be invited to vote online to determine which projects will receive grant funding.
