By: Yard House
With a nod to the Chicago craft beer scene, Yard House NewCity boasts 110 tap handles with 23 regional craft offerings by 16 local brewers.
“Chicago has a long standing history of great beer and a strong culture of innovative breweries and styles.” said Gregory Howard, beverage manager for Yard House. “We are very fortunate to have so many craft beer options available in our own backyard. Our guests are very pleased with the menu we’ve put together.”
Among the local brewers are Ale Syndicate, Begyle, BuckleDown, Goose Island, Half Acre, Local Option, Metropolitan, Moody Tongue, Crown Valley, Off Color, Penrose, Revolution, Solemn Oath, Temperance, Two Brothers, Three Floyds and Jolly Pumpkin.
Yard House NewCity at Lincoln Park will boast 14 new draft offerings that have never been offered before at any Yard House location, and available for the first time at Yard House, Not Your Father’s Hard Root Beer – available by the bottle.
In addition, Yard House’s Chalkboard Series features a selection of small, limited releases from mostly craft brewers that rotate monthly keeping the selection both innovative and fresh. These featured beers are listed on a digital chalkboard prominently displayed above the island bar. Currently, offerings include: Dogfish Head 120 Minute IPA, Dogfish Head Punkin’ Ale, Samuel Adams Fat Jack, Southern Tier Pumking, Weihenstephaner Festbier.
Additional rotating seasonal drafts include offerings from prominent regional and local brewers: Bell’s, Lagunitas, Revolution, Samuel Adams and Three Floyds.
The menu of American favorites includes a selection of globally-inspired flavors, from salads and grilled burgers to seafood, steak and ribs. Guests also can enjoy an array of gluten-sensitive options as well as vegetarian dishes made with gardein™, a blend of garden vegetables and protein that have the look, taste and texture of chicken.
Happy Hour takes place 3-6 pm Monday-Friday featuring select full-portion appetizers from $5 along with beer, wine and crafted cocktail offerings, and Sunday-Thursday, 10 pm until closing, food only.
The NewCity location spans nearly 11,000 square feet with seating for 488 guests including a beautiful 55-seat outdoor patio, plus an additional three-dozen seats encircling the restaurant’s signature island bar. The spacious floor plan, which is lofty and open, has an industrial vibe with a mix of warm woods and stainless steel accents as well as an original collection of thought-provoking art by California artist Jerome Gastaldi.
As with every Yard House location, music plays a pivotal role as a continuous playlist of classic rock, including ‘80s and ‘90s alternative, fills the space. Each Yard House has its own distinct playlist pulling from a library of about 5,000 songs with no two locations playing the same song at the same time.
Yard House is located in the NewCity development at 1500 N. Clybourn and North Avenues in Chicago and is open daily for lunch, dinner and late-night dining. For more information, call 312.951.7317 or visit yardhouse.com (http://www.yardhouse.com/
About Yard House
When Yard House opened in 1996 in Long Beach, California, it revolutionized the restaurant industry by creating a 250-tap draft beer system. Nearly 20 years and 61 restaurants later, Yard House still leads the way with great food, classic rock and a vast selection of draft beer while evolving into an award-winning dining destination known for its menu of American favorites, crafted cocktails and endless fleet of tap handles featuring the best American craft beers and imports. The exhibition kitchen creates more than 100 items made from scratch daily and infused with quality ingredients and globally-inspired flavors. The menu includes everything from shareable plates and appetizers to grilled burgers, steaks and seafood. Each Yard House has its own distinct beer list with a handful of taps reserved for local and regional brewers along with an offering of seasonal and small-batch selections as part of its rotating “Chalkboard Series.” The glass-enclosed keg room showcases hundreds of steel barrels containing some 3,000 gallons of beer that flow to the center-island bar through an extensive network of tubing positioned overhead. From there the beer is fed to the taps where it’s served ice-cold by the pint, 9-ounce shorty, goblet or half-yard glass container. Yard House is also well-known for its classic and alternative rock music selection, boasting a library of 5,000 songs with each location having its own distinct playlist. Yard House is open daily for lunch, dinner and late-night dining.
