Stoneham invests in the future with cutting-edge tech

LONDON - Oct. 12, 2015 - PRLog -- Stoneham has made a double investment in its production plant, upgrading to the new Homag Ambition 2474 edgebander and Cefla’s PRIMA automated spraying system. The result: increased in-house productivity and on-point, quality finishes for customers.

As a volume bespoke manufacturer, Stoneham’s new Homag edgebander means any standard Stoneham range can be artfully adapted to the specific design requirements of the individual customer. Used to apply veneers to straight or curved panel edges in PVC, ABS, laminated and solid wood, it produces durable and wonderfully precise edge trim.

“The equipment is part of our continuous investment in technology and our customers. It is important we continue to move forward, keeping abreast with technology and ahead of trends,” comments Mike Stoneham, Production Director. “The machinery boosts efficiency on the grand scale, so we can focus on the finer details that set Stoneham apart.”

The equipment itself is configured to fit the needs of Stoneham, each feature selected by Stoneham, so bespoke breathes bespoke: trimming, scraper and pre-milling units plus a number of cleaning buffers, combine to secure a more refined look and feel to cabinets. The addition of a Boomerang ZHR 05 return system enables a single operator to easily use the machine, furthering efficiency.

PRIMA, the automated spraying system by Cefla, is the second new addition to the Stoneham finishing plant. PRIMA signifies a switch from manual to automatic spraying. Paint and catalyst are mixed at the point of use, reducing waste and improving accuracy. Combined with sophisticated Kremlin-Rexan pump equipment, which monitors and delivers the paint with catalyst to the different spray heads, productivity is increased and a precise and consistent panel finish is achieved.

This upgrade to the Stoneham finishing plant serves a current trend: contemporary kitchen design is inclined towards a painted finish of varying colours, sometimes two or three in a single kitchen. By automating the process, PRIMA is helping to optimise efficiency and meet growing demand.

“Both machines have significantly increased productivity in our Sidcup factory,” says Adrian Stoneham, “helping us to do what we do best, create beautifully bespoke and exquisitely finished kitchens that are on trend and perfectly matched to our customer.”
