IIPA Elects John McCarrick as new President

Oct. 8, 2015 - PRLog -- John McCarrick: President of IIPA

A continual source of support and innovation to the Institute, John McCarrick has been re-elected as President of the Institute of Incorporated Public Accountants in Ireland (IIPA) this October 2015.  Having previously served as leader to the Body between 2002 and 2006, John steered the organisation through a period of stable growth.

Now, he returns to the highest position of leadership in the Institute of Incorporated Public Accountants in Ireland for a second tenure. As principal partner of John McCarrick and Associates, an acclaimed Dublin Accountancy Firm, he has unrivalled experience of legislative and commercial fields.  This allows him to guide businesses across the SME sector with precision.

Given the similar nature of the IIPA’s fellowship base, these assets position him as a key player in the Irish framework to navigate the Institute’s members into a new chapter of economic resurgence and undoubted success in the SME sector.

Following this period of unprecedented economic difficulty in Ireland, our transition towards recovery will not be without its challenges.  Many indigenous industries in the SME sector have been confronted by unbearable regulatory conditions. This has created a predatory banking system, leaving many upstanding businesses distressed.  During his presidency, John McCarrick has pledged to improve and consolidate company rights for small businesses, the heart of the Irish economy.

Speaking at a summit with the Shanghai Pudong Audit office, John highlighted Accountant’s importance in leading clients to engage with the Regulatory Authorities, Revenue Commissioners and particularly the country’s Banking Institutions in restructuring debt and seeking a sustainable solution no matter how difficult the economic situation maybe:

“Although our economy has recovered, an unfortunate financial legacy remains for the SME sector.  As a business owner, it is sometimes tempting to avoid and ignore regulatory organisations, as well as banks. I would contend, however, that constant dialogue and prudence with these organisations will always result in positive outcomes. The accountant’s role in today’s economy is to facilitate this dialogue and to produce favourable results & sustainable solutions for clients. Moving forward, I and the IIPA are dedicated to resolving such issues for business in Ireland and pushing our resurgence forward.”

John’s renewed role as leader of one of Ireland’s recognised accountancy and auditing bodies’ promises to bring new life to accountancy professional in the Republic.  Following suit with many larger accountancy organisations, in the coming years the IIPA will look towards expanding nationally and internationally, through working together with other Accountancies bodies at home and overseas.

This period promises to be one of great excitement and opportunity, as Ireland and Irish business reclaim again their position of excellence on the world stage.
