Record Breaking Attendance at NAPBS 2015 Annual Conference
In Austin, Texas, a record-breaking 760 background screening professionals gathered for two and a half days of educational programming focused around the theme, “Setting the Stage.”
NAPBS Chair Julie Hakman said, “The record-breaking attendance at the 2015 NAPBS Annual Conference is a strong indicator of not only the strength of the background screening profession but also recognition of NAPBS’ important role in the profession.”
NAPBS presented for its members a very robust conference with 27 educational breakout sessions presented on a variety of topics affecting the industry including international screening, legislative issues, compliance guidelines and employment discrimination, to name just a few.
The opening session featured with an interactive End-User Panel with representatives from three of the largest employers in the United States. The session allowed attendees a unique insider view into the employer community with panel members providing an overview of their programs, their priorities and took questions from the audience on a variety of topics ranging from fingerprint-
Attendee favorite, Pam Devata of Seyfarth Shaw, returned to present a General Session on mitigating risk for FCRA litigation. NAPBS’ Government relations partner and lobbyist, Jamie Tucker of Akin Gump, presented a General Session on legislative activity affecting the industry at both the Federal and State levels and shed some insight into the 2016 elections. As compliance and legal matters continue to be of utmost importance to the profession, NAPBS brought in all of the nation’s leading FCRA and employment law counsel for attendees to listen to and learn from.
The sold-out Exhibit Showcase featured 44 companies who supply products or services to the background screening industry and daily vendor demonstrations. NAPBS also introduced a Virtual Exhibitor experience for the 2015 Annual Conference.
