Follow on Google News | Girls on the Run of the Treasure Coast Fall Season is Off and Running!By: Girls on the Run The program kicked off last Tuesday and all the girls had a blast as the teams came together celebrated special things about each other and themselves. They thought of ways they can help make their GOTR team a great place for all to learn and grow and they learned about the values and choices that are important at Girls on the Run and other areas of their lives. “Having the Girls on the Run program at Rosewood for the last three years has made a tremendous impact on all of my girls,” says Coach Amy Brown. “I see them gain more confidence and self-respect as they discover the power and strength that lies within each of them." This year the Rosewood team was generously sponsored by the Rebecca Streetman Fund. The Girls on the Run program uses an experience-based curriculum, which integrates running to inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident. The interactive curriculum is fun and challenging, covering meaningful topics such as self-awareness, building healthy relationships, and developing personal strengths while engaging in physical activities. The teams also plan and implement a community service project. All the girls will participate in the Girls on the Run 5K on December 12. This celebratory event is open to the public and a fundraiser for the program. To learn more about the program, sponsor a team, how to volunteer or to register for the community 5k please visit www.girlsontheruntc.org. You do not have to be a runner to get involved. Girls on the Run needs program coaches, committee members and 5k volunteers. Please contact us at 772-202-8015 to discuss which role will best fit your skills, talents and schedule. End
