FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - Oct. 7, 2015 - PRLog -- (Miami, FL, October 7, 2015) – National Voices for Equality, Education and Enlightenment (NVEEE), a national organization aimed at preventing bullying, suicide and school violence, kicks off National Anti-Bullying Month with the October 7th  launch of a innovative website www.TeensForBullyingPrevention.org developed by teens, for teens that are affected by bullying, self harm, and/or suicide ideation. The content, including tips on coping, confronting and standing up to bullying, was developed by 30 hand picked students who participate in either NVEEE’s Youth Advisory Council or NVEEE’s Peace Ambassador Program.

“By sharing personal stories and giving tips of how to deal with general bullying, but also more specific types like racial and ethnic bullying, girl-to-girl bullying, anti-LGBTQ bullying, and body image issues, they have created a safe space with digital relatability where there is no judgment and no name calling. It’s pretty inspiring actually” states Jowharah Sanders, Executive Director of NVEEE.”

Also included on the site will be scholarship and grant opportunities, resources and helpline numbers, ways to submit stories of students being upstanders, as well as listing service opportunities where other students can now join in on workshops and monthly activities in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach Counties.

The website, funded by a grant provided by Be a STAR, WWE's anti-bullying initiative and The Miami Foundation’s Community Grants program, will play an integral part of NVEEE’s mission to prevent bullying, violence, and suicide among youth, families and communities through direct service, mentoring and prevention education.  Through the grant, students have the necessary platform to be trained as NVEEE Peace Ambassadors in the efforts to prevent bullying, and to take that knowledge back to their communities to take action as upstanders instead of bystanders. Through NVEEE’s “Be Upstanding” Bullying and Suicide Prevention Program, a program which has been widely successful in South Florida schools, students saw a need for a centralized information hub relative to families and teens affected by bullying.
