About The J. Rose Project

With a mission to empower girls of various social, economic, racial and academic backgrounds, the J. Rose Project aims to encourage strength & individuality, through the development and implementation of cutting-edge and thought provoking programs. Each interaction is to affirm to each girl the message that she is strong, fierce, and brilliant in mind, body, and spirit. Self-esteem has become the foremost crisis for teen girls in this country; more specifically for middle & high school girls of color. Ultimately, the majority of young girls are suffering from low self-esteem, and it is affecting all areas of their lives. Despite the daily negative images perpetuated by mass media and the misogynistic views of popular culture, it is our goal to empower girls to strive for excellence and high standards in every aspect. This organization was founded with the  understanding that our society is not always a safe place for girls. They are often ignored, demeaned, and weakened. Therefore, we are ALL charged to be advocates for and promoters of stronger self-images, abstinence & sexual responsibility, and higher education for our daughters. Through focused programs, encouraging mentors, and empowering events, the J. Rose Project aims to provide middle and high school female minorities with a supportive and encouraging network.  The J. Rose Project is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization – all donations and contributions are tax-deductible.
