PLAINFIELD, N.J. - Oct. 1, 2015 - PRLog -- The Drake House Museum will be one of the stops included in Union County’s Four Centuries in a Weekend celebration, which offers a journey through Union County’s history, featuring historic houses, museums and sites throughout the County.

"OVER HERE, MOLLY PITCHER" A dramatic presentation highlighting the lives of women who

"belonged to the army" during the American Revolution. "Molly" reminisces about the days when she accompanied her husband through summer battles and winter encampments from Valley Forge to Monmouth to Morristown. Relating her tales of firing a cannon in the heat of battle to trudging "behind the baggage," she provides a glimpse into what it was like to be a "camp follower" in the days when American Independence was a dream rather than a certainty.

The Historical Society of Plainfield received an operating support grant from the New Jersey Historical Commission, a division of the Department of State. Funding has been made possible in part by the New Jersey Historical Commission, a division of the Department of State through a grant administered by the Union County Office of Cultural and Heritage Affairs, Department of Parks and Recreation; the Garden State Historic Preservation Trust administered by the New Jersey Historic Trust/State of New Jersey; the Union County Open Space, Recreation and Historic Preservation Trust Fund; the City of Plainfield; the Plainfield Cultural and Heritage Commission; McCutchen Foundation; the Plainfield Foundation; the Union Foundation; EJ Grassmann Trust; the Pond Foundation; the 1772 Foundation in cooperation with the New Jersey Historic Trust; and the New Jersey Cultural Trust Fund.
