SANTA MONICA, Calif. - Oct. 1, 2015 - PRLog -- Teen singer/songwriter Danielle Prou is scheduled to perform live at Camp Kesem’s (http://campkesem.org/) 4th annual “Susan’s Magic Makers (http://susansmagicmakers.org/)” gala Saturday, October 3 at the Jonathan Beach Club starting at 6:00 p.m.

Camp Kesem is a national community driven program led by passionate college students that support children with a parent afflicted by cancer. “Susan's Magic Makers” is the organization’s annual fundraising event named in the memory of Susan Nelson Fleiss of Santa Monica. Fleiss was a beloved wife, sister, mother of three, talented architect, popular teacher, and devoted friend who passed away from stage four colon cancer in 2011 at the young age of 35.

The event honors Fleiss and others who faced cancer with courage, hope, love, and the determination to help children touched by the disease. More than 400 guests are expected to attend this year. More than $1 Million has been raised in Fleiss’ memory since 2011

Prou, 16, is the first music artist ever to perform live at the annual fundraising event. Often compared to Norah Jones and Alicia Keys, Prou’s voice is soulful and her music style is a blend of alternative Indie rock and pop. The talented teen singer and songwriter from Pacific Palisades has toured the country and just released her album titled Plastic Candles (https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/plastic-candles/id10200...).

The 13-song album features a mix of original and cover tunes. Her original single Lion’s Heart, debuted recently ahead of the album on YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GesLTOAbuZM) and iTunes (https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/lions-heart-single/id998612407). The single serves as the official song of the Lion’s Heart organization, a national teen volunteer organization representing more than 4,200 student volunteers from 45 chapters around the country. Prou, who is a Santa Monica high school honors student, is the national spokeswoman for the nonprofit and founder of the Santa Monica Lion’s Heart chapter.

Camp Kesem is the only national organization dedicated to supporting children through and beyond their parent's cancer with innovative programs such as sports, arts and crafts, and drama to give campers a fun-filled week. This summer, more than 5,000 children attended free summer camps over 70 week-long sessions of Camp Kesem.
