By: Danielle Prou Camp Kesem is a national community driven program led by passionate college students that support children with a parent afflicted by cancer. “Susan's Magic Makers” is the organization’ The event honors Fleiss and others who faced cancer with courage, hope, love, and the determination to help children touched by the disease. More than 400 guests are expected to attend this year. More than $1 Million has been raised in Fleiss’ memory since 2011 Prou, 16, is the first music artist ever to perform live at the annual fundraising event. Often compared to Norah Jones and Alicia Keys, Prou’s voice is soulful and her music style is a blend of alternative Indie rock and pop. The talented teen singer and songwriter from Pacific Palisades has toured the country and just released her album titled Plastic Candles (https://itunes.apple.com/ The 13-song album features a mix of original and cover tunes. Her original single Lion’s Heart, debuted recently ahead of the album on YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/ Camp Kesem is the only national organization dedicated to supporting children through and beyond their parent's cancer with innovative programs such as sports, arts and crafts, and drama to give campers a fun-filled week. This summer, more than 5,000 children attended free summer camps over 70 week-long sessions of Camp Kesem.
