NAPERVILLE, Ill. - Sept. 30, 2015 - PRLog -- Special Spaces, a non-profit organization that creates dream bedrooms for children with life-threatening medical conditions, will be conducting a bedroom makeover for West Chicago resident Owen Payton on Friday, October 2, 2015.

Owen suffers from several serious medical conditions. He has had three open heart surgeries and also suffers from Cerebral Palsy and Epilepsy. Despite it all, Owen is funny and independent. He has requested an Alabama Crimson Tide themed bedroom. Special Spaces will be working on bedroom makeovers for the Payton siblings as well, in total conducting three makeovers!

To help complete makeovers, Special Spaces depends on donations from individuals, local businesses, groups and even other foundations. The Special Spaces Chicagoland Chapter is conducting this makeover with sponsorship assistance from the Carol Stream FedEx facility.  This is the second room sponsored by a FedEx team, as the group also sponsored a room in September of 2014. FedEx Ground team member, Ben Atkinson, led the charge to get his company involved. Ben’s daughter Kendall received a Special Spaces room makeover in the summer of 2013. The experience was so impactful for his daughter and his family, that he felt compelled to help another child in need. To complete Owen’s makeover, several FedEx team members from the Carol Stream facility will be working on-site. “We are so grateful to have support from local businesses and from past recipients. The makeover experience brings joy and hope to a child and family facing a desperate time,” said Chicagoland Director Kelly Knox.
