Hytrol Conveyor and Jonesboro Chamber of Commerce Host Manufacturing Day This Week

Sept. 30, 2015 - PRLog -- Hytrol Conveyor Co., Inc. and the Jonesboro Regional Chamber of Commerce are teaming up on October 1, 2015 to host an event honoring local manufacturers. The Manufacturing Day event is one of over 1400 across the nation, and is an opportunity for companies to address challenges and concerns while celebrating the industry.

In particular, this event will highlight the Tek Starz summer camp. Tek Starz is developed by the Chamber of Commerce and Arkansas State University at Newport with assistance from the Arkansas Manufacturing Extension Partnership and local manufacturers. During the summer camp, students visit local manufacturers and learn about the industry through hands-on projects and other activities. During the event, presentations from the June camp will be made to sponsors.

Charley Appleby, Vice Chancellor for Economic and Workforce Development at Arkansas State University-Newport, said that Tek Starz is an important addition to his company’s portfolio of outreach services. “It is extremely rewarding to watch young people excited about manufacturing through their experiences this week,” said Appleby. “It opens potential career interests and technical programs to some of the best and brightest young people, providing viable alternatives to typical educational pathways.”
