Amazon FBA Fees: Why I Stopped Selling on Amazon FBA and Ebay!

Okay. I will admit it.

I was totally stoked about selling on Amazon FBA.

The rule changes and high eBay fees quickly caused me to leave their platform. It's a real shame too because eBay once had a good thing going.

And, at first, Amazon FBA was GREAT!

But then it started. You know the drill:

- increasing fees
- crazy rule changes
- new state taxes
- extra fees for selling in Canada, and overseas

It quickly became more of a hassle. And, I haven't even gotten into the shipments that were lost, and, yes, damaged!

For some reason Amazon FBA will let a customer open, and some cases destroy, and item and hassle you about quality. This I found utterly confounding.

The Private Labeling Mirage!
Yes, I too thought that Private Labeling would be the answer to my prayers. I mean all of the gurus were selling online courses telling us how wonderful it was.

(But I soon realized that those same guys (and gals) were making their real money from the courses they were selling and NOT Amazon FBA).

So what is the problem with Private Labeling?
Let me list only a handful of them:

1) The Asian manufacturer who private labeled your item is selling the SAME item they made for you for LESS MONEY on Amazon FBA (if you don't believe it just search Amazon for items made by sellers named "China").

2) The "race to the bottom" - even if the margins are good some "Amazon FBA Newbie" will offer the same product for much less money killing your profit margins (and theirs!).

3) Everyone now knows the BIG overseas and wholesale sites in the states to get the products from. This is why you can find DOZENS of the same item on any listing.

Those are just the tip of the iceberg. The 'Taxman" is about to invoke new laws that will pinch us even more in months to come.

The Truth!
Sometimes I'm kinda slow. The truth had been staring me in the face for years. The people who make the REAL money online are doing it with 'digital products' that defy the 3-D world limitations of:

- size
- production costs
- shipping and handling
- postage costs
