Join us on October 18, 2015 for the annual Devil Dog 5K Race! The Devil Dog 5K, presented by Evolution Fitness, benefits wounded soldiers and is a great opportunity to make a difference in our community. This family friendly event is designed to unite our community and to raise awareness to the needs of wounded service members who have sacrificed so much for our country. The Devil Dog 5K was established by an actual Marine in partnership with the Evolution Fitness Foundation. Marines have been nicknamed ‘Devil Dogs’ since the Battle of Belleau Wood in 1918 when German soldiers coined the term to describe the US Marines who were likened to “Dogs from Hell” because of their ferocious fighting in the Battle. This nickname is still used to motivate and inspire our great Marines.

The proceeds from this 5K will be donated to some of the most vulnerable and important members of our society: wounded warriors. The Wounded Warrior Project is a praiseworthy organization that serves to honor and empower both physically and mentally wounded soldiers. As this organization asserts, there are countless warriors that are in need of assistance; among our soldiers, there are an estimated 52,369 wounded, 320,000 with traumatic brain injuries, and 400,000 with post-traumatic stress disorder. The Wounded Warrior Project needs our help to provide monetary aid, sponsor programs, and raise awareness for the needs of wounded soldiers. The Evolution Fitness Foundation, founded in conjunction with this Marine, strives to give back to services members through multiple military charities and is always looking to create new and exciting charity events. The Devil Dog 5K is a great way to contribute to this goal set forth by Evolution Fitness. This is a great opportunity to give back to service members that have been wounded and sacrificed so much for our freedom!

The 5K will take place on October 18th, 2015 at 7:30am. The race will be held at the SOUTH COUNTY REGIONAL PARK, which is located at 12551 Glades Road, Boca Raton, FL 33498. This is a certified 5K course that participants will certainly enjoy! Awesome medals will be presented to everyone who finishes the race. Special awards will be awarded to the top racers; the top 3 male and top 3 female runners overall, as well as the top 3 male and female racers in each age group, will be awarded trophies for their particularly impressive performances!
