CGR engaged by DuPage County, Illinois to evaluate public nursing home

WHEATON, Ill. - Sept. 25, 2015 - PRLog -- CGR has been engaged by DuPage County, Illinois to assess a range of options concerning the viability and feasibility of continuing to own and operate the 360-bed DuPage Convalescent Center. The engagement will evaluate a menu of alternatives regarding the optimal operation and management of the Center, and develop a strategy and plan of action for continued delivery of quality care and services to residents of the facility.

The Center, which provides long-term care and rehabilitation services for hundreds of patients, faces a projected $3 million shortfall in 2015. Like many publically owned nursing homes throughout Illinois and the rest of the nation, DuPage County’s subsidy has grown in recent years to offset declining Medicaid reimbursement rates. In just the past three years, the county subsidy has grown by approximately 25%.

CGR’s project team is led by Dr. Donald Pryor, who has directed numerous county and statewide studies of county nursing facilities addressing the same questions facing DuPage County.

The project is expected to be completed in early 2016.
