Project Sanctuary Appoints New Board Member: Veteran and First Command Leader

New Member Brings 20 years of Military & Financial Service to Military Families

GRANBY, Colo. - Sept. 22, 2015 - PRLog -- Project Sanctuary today announced that Ron Testa, a 20-year military career veteran and district advisor at First Command Financial Services, Inc. (FCFS), has been elected to the board of directors. Ron fills the FCFS seat being vacated by retiring Senior Vice President of Financial Planning, Joseph “Joe” Morrin. Joe will remain on the board, having been elected to an at-large seat upon his retirement.

Ron enlisted in the Navy in 1968 and had a distinguished 20-year military career, serving as a crewmember on four submarines, and retired at the rank of lieutenant commander. He joined First Command in December 1988, and today is a registered principal and District Advisor for the company’s Puget Sound district, providing leadership to four offices in western Washington.

“Ron’s impressive background, 20 years of military service and over 25 years of financial experience will further strengthen our board’s breadth of talent and background, and we are delighted to have attracted such an outstanding individual” said Heather Ehle, founder and CEO of Project Sanctuary. “We believe his strong experience in finance and fundraising, and his notable military background, will be extremely valuable to Project Sanctuary as we continue to grow to serve our military families.”

A graduate of Chapman University and Miami University (Ohio) with a master’s degree in human resources management and development and a bachelor’s degree in systems analysis, respectively, Ron holds multiple securities registrations and multiple types of insurance licenses in Washington. He is a Certified Financial Planner™ certificant and a member of the Financial Planning Association and Financial Services Institute.

From serving as past president of a Little League organization in Titusville, Fla., to being active in his local church in Port Orchard, Wash., to heading up the Navy League campaign committee that raised over $400,000 to install a Navy memorial in Bremerton, Wash., featuring The Lone Sailor statue, Ron stays involved in the community. He is currently National Director Emeritus of the Navy League of the United States.

“Project Sanctuary does fantastic work in helping veteran families heal and deal with the non-visual wounds of military service,” Ron said. “I am honored to serve this very successful program with so noble a purpose. A BIG THANKS to all who support Project Sanctuary.  You make a difference in the lives of those who serve!”
