PRLog -- Asha Bhavan Centre, a social organisation, has decided to have 'Child Rights' as its Durga Puja theme this year. The members of PWD Forum of ABC who are the organisers of this puja admits that the collection of crowds at the pandal can create just the right venue for spreading messages of social importance and hopes that the portrayal of this issue through their puja pandal to raise awareness among general mass.
PWDs of ABC have already designed and prepared the concept of the puja pandal taking the assistance of staff members of the social organisation. The pandal will have various displays made by the PWDs portraying the theme of 'Child Rights'. There are also going to be many other attractions through which pandal hoppers will get a glimpse of the talents of ABC's children with disabilities.
Being able to successfully portray the themes of 'Peaceful World and Human Evolution' and 'Global Warming' last two years through their Durga puja pandal, the Forum is just endeavouring to raise awareness among general mass against the various children issues, that remain largely invisible & de-prioritised as they do not constitute the vote bank.
Children constitute more than 1/3rd of India's population of a 1.21 billion and still they are perceived only as the future generation of economically contributing adults & not as the citizens of today. The pandal at the ABC premises by depicting the Child Rights theme will represent the status of the past decade highlighting the current issues concerning children.
PWD Forum of Asha Bhavan Centre was formed by ten children with disabilities in the year 2013. The main motive behind the creation of this Forum was to make the life of the Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) a bit more interesting and colorful during Durga Puja. The idea of this Forum, however came into the mind of these youngsters when they had given a thought to the lifestyle of the PWDs and how they celebrate this festival. To ensure that these members of marginalised community are not set apart from the rest of the 'normal' people in the society, the Forum organises Durga Puja every year since 2013 in the ABC Head Quarter premises and encourages the participation of the PWDs.
