By: Robbie's Rainbow This year’s event is sure to be a crowd pleaser once again with the participation of former pro-Hockey players Denis Maruk and Mike Krushelnyski, andwith a special guest appearance by legendary goal-tender Johnny Bower. Top prizes to be won include: platinum hockey tickets, trip for 2 to Myrtle Beach with accommodation, PEI golf vacation and even an invitation to shoot a $1,000,000 hole-in-one. More than 233,000 Canadians suffer from IBD. Children under ten are increasingly being diagnosed. The illness affects more people than multiple sclerosis or HIV and is almost as prevalent as epilepsy and Type 1 diabetes.” (Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of Canada). Robbie's Rainbow was born of Robbie Murray’s wish, at the age of eight, to help other children who’s families didn’t have the funds to pay for these life-altering treatments and were suffering needless pain and physicaldecline. After witnessing a sobbing mother begging for a dose of treatment for her child that were only available by order for approximately $6000/dose, Robbie beseeched his mom to start raising funds for other kids. Robbie’s Rainbow is dedicated to helping kids with Crohn's Disease and Ulcerative Colitis who require medicine that can cost upwards of $20,000 per year per child, and is not covered by OHIP. Their mission includes advocacy, peer support and research funds to continue the groundbreaking research and treatments discovered by the Sick Kids’ team.
