More than 120 golfers from across the state participated in the event, with all proceeds benefiting the Ellie Fund, a Needham-based nonprofit whose mission is to provide essential support services for breast cancer patients to ease the stresses of everyday life, allowing the focus to be on family, recovery and healing. In addition to a day on the links, the festivities included a dinner, silent auction, prize drawing and a speaking platform where Scott Dorsey, whose family received assistance from the Ellie Fund following his wife’s diagnosis of breast cancer. “We are grateful to Walmart for their title sponsorship and are very pleased with the overwhelming support and turnout for an organization that works every day to help those families that are affected by breast cancer in real, tangible ways,” said Scott Clifford, partner at Epstein, Lipsey & Clifford, P.C. and one of the event’s creators. “We are planning and looking forward to next year’s “Real Golfers Wear Pink” tourney as sponsors and golfers are already enthusiastically asking about the 2016 date,” said Clifford.
