BARNEGAT, N.J. - Sept. 17, 2015 - PRLog -- Walters Homes has been recognized by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as a 2015 ENERGY STAR® Certified Homes Market Leader. This is the fifth consecutive year that the builder has received the award, honoring the important contribution Walters Homes has made to energy-efficient construction and environmental protection by building 52 ENERGY STAR certified homes in 2014.

“As an ENERGY STAR builder, we are proud to provide homebuyers with a home that is designed and built to standards well above most others on the market today,” said Edward Walters, Jr., founder and president. “Our homeowners are saving on their utility bills as well as protecting the environment.”

ENERGY STAR requires a HERS Rating of 75 (Home Energy Rating System). Homes built by Walters Homes consistantly score a rating of 54-56. The closer to zero a home scores, the less energy is needed to heat and cool that home. More information on the HERS Rating System can be found at hersindex.com.

To earn the ENERGY STAR label, a home must meet strict guidelines for energy efficiency set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. These homes then undergo third-party verification of energy performance and are up to 30% more efficient than typical new homes built today.

Walters Homes offers the added benefits of ENERGY STAR appliances, effective insulation systems; high performance windows, sealed and pressure tested duct systems, properly-sized and installed high efficient heating and cooling equipment, efficient products, and third-party verification of energy performance.
