Sep 15, 2015- Kolkata: A small beginning can create magic if based on diligence and braveness to take risk. Past and recent awards of WDC.ONLINE are the hard works paid over time. Recently in a function organized in New Delhi, the prestigious award of ‘Pride of India, 2015’ was rewarded to WDC.ONLINE by the Govt. of India on Aug. 2nd, 2015. Next award of ‘Best IT Place to Work’ was rewarded at a grand ceremony by Brands Academy on Aug. 8th, 2015 in Bengaluru. However the journey still this point was not walked over a bed of roses and includes its share of hardships.

Initial Journey

The journey began on 10th April, 2010 when 3 well established software executives, Mr. Atanu Sarkar, Mr. Ayan Sarkar and Mr. Atanu Dey, left their cushy jobs to test the waters of IT world as entrepreneurs. They started a software design and development company, WDC.ONLINE, in Salt Lake City with just 7 employees.
Biggest hurdles among many were to build credibility and extend reputation. “The biggest challenge was to establish credibility in the market. Reputed organizations put their projects with recognized web development services and not with us. Our developers got calls from big development firms and left us. The company also faced money crunch at various phases. Now many talented web developers and designers compete to get a chance here,” says Mr. Atanu Sarkar, the company CEO.
The youngsters were exceptionally talented who then chalked out micro targets and finished them exceptionally well, before time. Gradually projects were flowing in.
Their pioneer projects were based upon custom PHP, WordPress and website design. One of the most prestigious initial projects came from Mercedes in 2011.

Work Atmosphere

Have you heard anybody proudly saying that he or she is a proud family member of a company? Not very often I believe. But this generalization doesn’t fit accurately with WDC.ONLINE. Yes, all of the 120+ employees call themselves members of this family.
“We wanted to create a stress free work atmosphere- a workplace with a homely environment. In fact all of us are proud to be members of WDC.ONLINE family,” says Mr. Atanu Sarkar.

Present Scenario

With 120+ employees the company has completed thousands of projects successfully. At present average turnover of the company is $3million. WDC.ONLINE has marked its first print at offshore with its headquarter in Miami, USA. There are branch offices at Phuket, Thailand and Bundall, Australia.

USP

Software development projects based upon PHP, Magento, CodeIgniter, WordPress, .NET are some commonplace expertise of WDC.ONLINE but the exceptional ones are based on its prowess to work on Ruby on Rails and Laravel. In addition there is a department of Android app developers. Other departments are Website Design and Digital Marketing.

1 Unique Trait

The company has a unique aim that is to hire software engineers from rural backyards of West Bengal. It sees scopes of talent and not previous experience records. Fresh engineering graduates are enrolled for training sessions after which they get chances to participate at live projects.

Awards

Hard work paid off in 2013 when WDC.ONLINE was selected for ‘Fastest Growing Indian Company Excellence Award’ and awarded on Jan. 25th, 2014 in a grand ceremony that took place at Bangkok. In the same year the company was awarded with ‘Fastest 500 Asia-Pacific Award’.
Aug. 2nd, 2015 was a remarkable day for WDC.ONLINE when it was awarded with ‘Pride of India’ award by government of India in New Delhi. On Aug. 8th the company got an award for its excellent work culture by Brands Academy with ‘Best IT Place to Work’ award in Bengaluru.
Plans for Future
“We want to build an independent brand of Team WDC.ONLINE. There are miles to go and this is just the beginning”, said Mr. Ayan Sarkar, the CTO of the company. For this, individual employees are encouraged to build up their skills and team leading capabilities.

In addition the company wants to reach out to global audience by opening 10 more offshore branches.
