Follow on Google News | First Family for Samaritan Inns’ Women with Children Program ArrivesBy: Samaritan Inns The new Women with Children Program will create a safe home where mothers recovering from substance abuse can receive treatment and family services while establishing a foundation for long-term independent living. Addicted mothers, along with their dependent children, are one of the greatest underserved populations in the District of Columbia; there are nearly a thousand homeless families, of which half are headed by addicted mothers, and there are thousands more who are at risk of being homeless as a result of substance abuse. With the launch of this new program, Samaritan Inns looks to address those needs and build a better future for families who are battling addiction. Since Samaritan Inns founding in 1985, our mission has been to provide structured housing and recovery services in an environment of support and accountability that give homeless or at risk individuals who suffer from drug and alcohol addictions the opportunity to rebuild their lives. For 30 years, our programs and services have treated and saved more than 10,000 citizens in the District of Columbia. One year after completion of the final phase of the comprehensive program, our graduates report that over 90% are drug/alcohol free, employed full time, and live in their own apartment or home.
