WILSONVILLE, Ore. - Sept. 14, 2015 - PRLog -- The citizens of Wilsonville, OR made a clear statement on August 22, 2015 by showing up in droves at the first annual Wilsonville Brewfest – they showed that there is enormous support for a brewfest in Wilsonville. Over 1,200 people came to the first of what attendees hope will be many more Wilsonville Brewfests to come.

"We had planned for roughly 750 beer tasters," said Katie Green of Green Group Real Estate (http://greengrouprealestate.com), who partnered with The Beer Station (http://www.pdxbeerstation.com) to coordinate and put on the event. "You just never know how these first-time events will go. We hoped we wouldn't end up with too many mugs left over... Little did we know what a fantastic turnout we'd have! We felt really badly for the folks who came after we ran out of mugs, but you can bet we'll be ready for them next year!"

The 2015 Wilsonville Brewfest (http://www.wilsonvillebrewfest.com) ran from 12-8pm at the Villebois Piazza in the Villebois master-planned neighborhood in west Wilsonville. The event featured 11 different breweries, a cider vendor, more than 20 beers and even a root beer garden for kids. Local musicians including Michele Van Kleef, Will West, Rob Rainwater and Steve Hale kept the crowds grooving throughout the afternoon and early evening. Attendees snacked on food available from Slick's Big Time BBQ and Wetmore’s Quality Dogs. The brewfest atmosphere was relaxed, conversational, and fun despite smoky conditions caused by the numerous wildfires around the state that day.

"We couldn't have asked for a better turnout, crowd, or group of brewers. It really was an overwhelming success. We learned a lot, and next year will be that much better. We will plan for a lot more people, have more food, and make it an event that Wilsonville looks forward to and plans on every year," said Erin Telles, co-owner of The Beer Station. Telles and her husband, Jim,  recruited an impressive lineup of local brewers to serve at the brewfest. Vagabound Brewing, Two Kilts Brewing Co., Hopworks Urban Brewery, Ecliptic Brewing, Sasquatch Brewing Company, Seven Brides Brewing, Stickmen Brewery, Deception Brewing, McMenamins Ales, Salem Ale Works and Portland Cider Company are the 11 established breweries that served. Wilsonville-based Vanguard Brewery also unveiled their first beer at the brewfest.

The Wilsonville Brewfest was set up as a not-for-profit event, with proceeds raised to benefit local charities Wilsonville Community Sharing (http://wilsonvillecommunitysharing.org (http://wilsonvillecommunitysharing.org/Home/tabid/41/Defa...)) and Parrot Creek Child & Family Services (http://www.pcreek.org). This week brewfest organizers, Green Group Real Estate and The Beer Station, presented a check for $4,000 to Wilsonville Community Sharing, and a check for $2,000 to Parrot Creek.

"Our motto at Green Group is 'Creating Community', and this brewfest and the money we raised for charity is just a reflection of that. It was so wonderful to deliver these contributions from the community of Wilsonville that came from people coming together to have fun. We're already excited for next year!" said Green.

Beer fans will want to mark their calendars for Saturday, August 20, 2016 for the next annual Wilsonville Brewfest.
