By: Fotofund Fotofund seeks to develop a dedicated network of photographers, photo-enthusiasts, and arts organizations to come together in support of one another and the expansive photography community. A new development to propel Fotofund into the niche photography crowdfunding sphere is a reduction in commission fees from 7% to just 1% of funds raised by the photographers’ Photographers are taking notice of the advantageous 1% commission fee and are pursuing crowdsourcing campaigns with Fotofund to expand their networks of supporters and fund their photo-based projects. With project backers pledging to support project creators, both in turn provide support for Fotofund’s online crowdfunding platform and the expanded Lucie Foundation efforts. This 1% fee is, however, a limited time offer that only lasts until the end of 2015 - beginning January of 2016, the commission will increase to 3% for photographers who have not yet registered as a user on Fotofund. Our platform’s reach has recently surged with campaigns by artists such as Mark Johnstone, a producer, writer and curator of documentary films from the Western US. His current film project glorifies one of the pre-eminent western landscape photographers in the US postcard industry, Robert C. Bishop. Another artist taking advantage of Fotofund’s limited time 1% fee is Dmitri Kasterine – a filmmaker, photographer, and creator of a live campaign currently showcased on Fotofund. His work previously displayed at the National Portrait Gallery in London, Dmitri is now seeking crowdsourcing support to continue a project in Newburgh, New York, to explore the afflictions of poverty and violence on the predominantly African American population of the neglected city. “In order for the photo community to have an affordable way to crowdsource funds for their projects, we are only charging 1% to fund the great programs of the Lucie Foundation,” For more information on Fotofund, please visit http://en.fotofund.org About the Lucie Foundation The Lucie Foundation’s mission is to honor master photographers, discover and cultivate emerging talent, and promote the appreciation of photography worldwide.
