Mill House Lodge receives Henderson County Rising Star Award

HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. - Sept. 9, 2015 - PRLog -- Every year the Hendersonville Chamber of Commerce recognizes businesses for their efforts to grow the local economy and for their business success. The Mill House Lodge as well as other Award recipients were recognized at the awards ceremony on Monday May 11^th, being held at the Southern Appalachian Brewery. Mill House Lodge in Flat Rock is built around the original grist mill. “The mill served Flat Rock and Hendersonville” explained Bob Horky, co-owner of The Mill House Lodge. “It became a lodge for vacationers to Flat Rock and Hendersonville in the 60’s.”  Bob and his father purchased the Lodge in 2003.

“Its an honor to be recognized this year as one of the Rising Star Award Recipients. We have seen the downturn in the economy an are excited to see the economy begin to turn around. We’re also humbled to be a part of the history here and to serve visitors and residents alike to the area.”

The Mill House story is interwoven with the tapestry of Flat Rock and Hendersonville.  Bob has also established a foundation to work towards the restoration of the mill itself.  “The goal is do this in steps, the first is to raise funds to restore the water wheel. We’re working with various organizations to move this forward.  Almost everyday we’re asked if the wheel is working or if the mill works. Working with various organizations we’ve created the non-profit organization ‘Friends of the Mill House’ who are working towards this end.
