Follow on Google News | African Beat: Beat Brasserie Hosts Evening Dedicated to Cutting Edge African Music and CuisineBy: Beat Brassiere Guitarist and vocalist Albino Mbie will kick off the evening at 7:00PM. Albino Mbie’s musical influence comes from his upbringing in Mozambique, a country in southern Africa known for its rich musical and cultural heritage, and was expanded upon at the Berklee College of Music’s African Scholars Program. His music incorporates his global experiences, combining rhythmic patterns and musical concepts to create a unique Moz-Jazz sound. Following Mbie, Lamine Touré and Group Saloum will bring their cutting-edge Afro-Pop to the Beat’s stage. Lamine Touré is widely recognized as one of Senegal's leading percussionists. Born into a griot family of sabar drummers, Touré has been drumming since the age of four, a skill that he inherited from his ancestors. Since the early 1990s, Touré has been a key figure in the Senegalese music scene, performing throughout Africa, Europe, and North America. Touré’s global experience inspired him to create Group Saloum and a new style of Afro-mbalax music, incorporating elements of jazz, funk, reggae and Afrobeat. This evening of performance and culinary art is not to be missed. To make a reservation, visit www.beatbrasserie.com, or call 617.499.0001.
