Zov Accepts Invitation To Cook At Prestigious James Beard House

         Acclaimed chef and restaurateur Zov Karamardian, owner of 6 Orange County restaurants bearing her name, has accepted an invitation to prepare a meal at the prestigious James Beard House in New York.  She along with Culinary Director Louie Jocson will join an A-list of other prominent chefs through the years who have accepted this honor including Jacques Pepin, Emeril Lagasse and Wolfgang Puck.  The dinner will be held on Tuesday, October 6 at 7 p.m.  Those interested in making a reservation to enjoy the six-course meal may call the James Beard House at (212) 627-2308 or visit www.jamesbeard.org/events/cali-mediterranean-table.  Cost is $130 for James Beard members, $170 for non-members and includes wine, tax and gratuity.

         “We are honored and pleased to accept this prestigious invitation from the James Beard House," said Zov who noted that this is the second time she has accepted the honor. "I'm really excited to be working alongside chef Louie who has proven himself a master in the kitchen."

         The evening will begin with tray-passed hors d'oeuvres including Lamb Kofta Lollipops, Red Lentil Cakes with onion and garlic, Salmon Kibbe Naye, and Kalamata Shrimp Salad with capers, shallots, fresh herbs and watermelon radishes.

         The dinner will start off with a Sea Scallop Crudo, accompanied by a 2013 Cakebread Cellars Napa Sauvignon Blanc.  Next, guests will enjoy Jidori Chicken Meatballs in a savory broth with rice and spices, served with a 2014 Maison-Louis Jadot Maconnais and Beaujolais Wines Burgundy.  A third course of Chermoula spiced-rubbed Salmon served over lentil rice, pickled onion, shaved fennel & lebni will be paired with a 2012 Foley Estates Pinot Noir followed by Lamb Shoulder Tagine and a glass of St. Francis Sonoma Valley Merlot.  Rounding out the meal will be a Banana Brulee with caramelized bananas & custard in a salted cardamom butter crust topped with vanilla bean whipped cream & caramel sauce.  The dessert will be served with a glass of 10-year-old Taylor Fladgate Tawny Porto.

         Since opening her first restaurant in 1987, Zov has become one of the best-loved chefs in Southern California.
