Follow on Google News | San Jose City Council Meeting: Stand Up for Renters Rights September 1, 2015 1:30 PMBy: NorCal Press Tenants and leaders are mobilizing to support this proposal, and to be on guard in case landlords attempt to derail the process. Many are encouraged and feel they are in a favorable position because a recent poll showed that some 72% of San Jose residents support reducing allowable rent increases to 2% a year. People need to show up and let their voices be heard, to help assure the process will go forward. Many showed up to defend Section 8 tenants at the Housing Authority this past week, where impassioned testimonies changed the hearts and minds of the commissioners and persuaded them to avoid further cuts until they reach out further to affected tenants and study the alternatives. Every victory along the way builds unity for renters, and faith. Please plan on attending and showing solidarity for tenants and renters rights in San Jose California.
