MIDDLETOWN, Conn. - Aug. 26, 2015 - PRLog -- I-Park Foundation, Inc. is pleased to announce that, after rigorous deliberations, its Inter-Disciplinary Curatorial Panel has selected twelve artists from North America and Europe to participate in its signature Environmental Art Program.  Each of the artists will receive a prize of between $2,200 and $3,000 for their participation in a 3-week onsite residency and their creation and exhibition of a new site-responsive artwork on the land.

“We are excited by the exceptionally high caliber and diversity of artistry that will be on display this year,” says Ralph Crispino, Jr., Founder of I-Park.  “In addition to ephemeral sculptures, there will be 4 examples of site-responsive sound and performance art. We’d like to thank the National Endowment for the Arts, the State of Connecticut and the individual, foundation and corporate supporters who have made this, as well as our general artists-in-residence, program possible.”

I-Park’s 2015 Environmental Art Biennale, fifth in the series, will be titled “Ephemeral Art in the Landscape.” The public is invited to meet the artists and view the artworks during the free opening exhibition on Sunday, September 20, 2015. There will also be a fundraising dinner on Saturday, September 19, during which guests will be treated to an illuminated, private, preview walk of the trail at dusk – and then dinner with, and one or two presentations by, the artists. Tickets for the dinner are $75 each and can be purchased by contacting the office at 860-873-2468 or by e-mail at info@i-park.org.

“While a documentary film will be created to capture the spirit of this program, we invite the public to come and visit the exhibition in person,” adds Crispino, “and meet these world-class artists, at this particular place and time.  This is the only way to properly experience and appreciate the effort and creativity that brings this exceptional and important work into being.”
