Aug. 25, 2015 - PRLog -- Here we are again at another financial correction, dip, or whatever you'd like to call it.  In between dips, everyone has an opinion or some thought on how they are going to be pro-active or react the next time around.  So it's game time again.

Jason Dukes, Personal and Business Coach of Captain's Chair Coaching (http://captains-chair.com) offers these top five ways that most people will sabotage themselves into not acting and being victims.

1.  Get Overwhelmed and Do Nothing:  Financial meltdowns are obviously overwhelming.  But we tend to make them even more complicated when we are tasked with taking an action.  The reason is our belief that the safest thing to do is nothing.  So we end up stacking the odds up after any type of action and creating overwhelm.

2.  Get Tired:  Wow, its 6PM and I’m so tired!  That’s a normal reaction to something like this.  Notice if that’s happening for you and if so just know it’s a normal reaction that you have the power to overcome.

3.  Get Distracted:  Call your broker has been on your to-do list now for a week, yet, things keep coming up.  Note that those things may be coming up on purpose, because you really haven’t convinced yourself that making a move is the right thing to do.  So other distractions get generated to stop you from making your move.

4.  Magically Forget everything you said you’d do when this time came around again:  Oh, in times like this, its so easy to forget everything that you said you’d do the next time around.  As above, this leads to the overwhelm!  Instead of just focusing on what you’ve already figured out, you get your head scrambled with everything going on, get overwhelmed, and do nothing.

5.  Become defensive:  I know, the nerve of your wife, friend, or co-worker to remind you of everything you said you’d do the next time this came around.  Instead of allowing them to hold you accountable, you become super defensive!

All five of these are worth remembering and noticing when you are doing them.  You have the power to not let these common things take you off track.
