Follow on Google News | Strong Showing for Olson/Wong Team in Formula Renault Endurance RaceThe ultimate test of man and machine – endurance racing - yet not in a touring car, but in a Formula car, INDY style cars exceeding the race length of any comparable vehicle, with speeds averaging around 120mph. The pilots of these high-powered machines must endure hundreds of laps in the race cars in order to take to the podium, with 2.5Gs in the corners and over 2Gs under braking, with around 50 gearshifts a lap. Contesting today’s race was the team of Sunny Wong and Pete Olson, co-driving for the Endurance Race. With a total of 11 teams joining the race, the heat was on for Olson/Wong . However, both formula pilots excelled at their craft with 2013 AFR Season Podium driver Pete Olson and CTCC [China Touring Car Championship] Both drivers underwent intensive physical training for the event and have a history of excellent results at the Zhuhai International Circuit. Wong took on the first hour-long stint then handed over the wheel to Olson. Both drivers held their own despite the heat and mechanical issues and took a team finish of 6th overall. After the race, Olson said “I agree with Sunny [Wong] that we should have been more aggressive in our strategy – sure we achieved a very respectable result, but if we aren’t on the top of the podium then obviously there is a lot more to go. We will take them all in 2015, I have no doubt. Many thanks to http://www.childfund.org and http://www.sideways- End
