Follow on Google News | HPM Awards Three College ScholarshipsFor over 30 years, the annual Barney S. Fujimoto Memorial Scholarship has promoted academic achievement and excellence to Hawai`i Island high school seniors planning to attend a University of Hawai`i Institution. However, for the first time ever, this year’s applications were also made available online for O`ahu and Kaua`i high school seniors. Barney Fujimoto, a past president of HPM, strongly valued the importance of higher education. Today, HPM continues to express these same values through this $1,000 scholarship. Recipients Maya Kottwitz a recent graduate from the Hawai`i Academy of Arts and Sciences will be attending the University of Hawai`i at Hilo and Heidy Espejo from Farrington High School will attend the University of Hawai`i at Manoa. Hawai`i Community College student Ronald Dalere was selected to receive HPM’s Building Future Builders Scholarship of $750. Each year the Building Future Builders scholarship is awarded toward selected students entering their second year in the carpentry program. Applications for the annual Barney S. Fujimoto Memorial Scholarship will be available again online via the University of Hawai`i Common Scholarship Application in January 2016. Since starting out 94-years ago as a small family-owned lumber yard, HPM Building Supply – now 100-percent employee-owned – has grown to include three-full service building supply centers and four lumber yards on the Island of Hawai`i, and full service building supply centers and lumberyards on O`ahu and Kaua`i. The company manufactures pre-engineered trusses and wall-panels, metal roofing and pre-hung doors, and treats its own lumber. End
