Yours Humanly 5K Run/Walk, Walnut Creek, To Benefit Girls' Education

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Aug. 17, 2015 - PRLog -- Join Yours Humanly at Heather Farm Park, Walnut Creek, on Sunday, October 18, 8-11:45am, for a morning of fun, exercise, and fresh autumn air at the nonprofit’s first annual 5K Run/Walk, a timed and fun run/walk designed for seasoned athletes and casual walkers—all ages and skill levels alike. The event includes a 1K Fun Run for kids, bounce houses, face painters, balloon artists, music, and other entertainment.

Yours Humanly works to end global child illiteracy, and proceeds from this event will provide educational support for a minimum of 50 girls, nationally and around the world, whose educational needs are underserved or absent.

Registration is now open online at www.YoursHumanlyRun.org. Every participant will receive a custom-designed T-shirt and medal, and 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers in each age category will receive additional prizes. Early Bird entrance fees good through August 31: 5K Adult: $25; 5K Youth 13-17: $20; and 1K Child 12 & Under: $15. Registration fees increase on September 1.

More than 57 million primary school-age children worldwide do not have the means to enroll in their local schools. According to UNICEF, despite progress in recent years, girls continue to suffer the severest disadvantage and exclusion in education systems throughout their lives. Parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles are encouraged to register their children and the young people in their lives for the Yours Humanly 1K Fun Run to give them an opportunity to contribute to the health and well being of children less fortunate. Yours Humanly believes even kids have the power to empower!
