LOS ANGELES - Aug. 16, 2015 - PRLog -- Catalano will be presenting “Theatre in Los Angeles” discussing acting as both a creative art and a business. In a recent interview, Catalano commented: “Everyone has to get started somewhere but often they don’t know what to do. They look up at a movie or television screen and think to themselves… “I can do that… but how do I start?” I often get asked: Where do I fit in? What’s my casting type? How do I create an acting resume if I have no experience? What should I have ready for an audition? What about agents, managers and casting directors? The seminar program is focused at incoming freshman and will introduce them to the university and get them off to a great start. Catalano is both an acting teacher and an author.

Catalano’s book Rand Unwrapped – Confessions of a Robotech Warrior describes his experiences as an actor on the ground breaking animated series. It is also a wonderful window into acting as a voice artist. Art of the Monologue has been called a “great study for would be actors or comedians of any type” by Midwest Book Review. White Knight Black Night takes the performance of monologues one step further by focusing on the audition process. Catalano States: “I wanted focus on the very unique aspects that are present in the preparation and delivery of a short monologue as a sample of an actor’s ability to present a prepared memorized performance in an audition setting. The books contains sections covering monologue selection, memorizing lines, implementation strategies and a selection of seventy short monologues specifically designed to showcase an actor’s talent at an audition.”

As a playwright, Mr. Catalano’s works have been produced in New York City, Los Angeles, Honolulu, Hawaii and Dayton, Ohio including The American Rose Garden, Cyclotron (La Mama, N.Y.C.), Evolution, Waiting For to Go (Kennedy Center, Hawaii), and Saturday Nights.
