BERKEYS Air Conditioning, Plumbing, & Electrical to Raise Awareness on National Senior Citizen Day

DALLAS - Aug. 14, 2015 - PRLog -- BERKEYS Air Conditioning, Plumbing, & Electrical wants citizens of the DFW area to get out and volunteer on National Senior Citizen Day, August 21, 2015. Of the 400 reported heat-related deaths annually, 40% are senior citizens/ Senior citizens don’t sweat effectively, have poor circulation, and often medical conditions that increase the risk of heat related illness, stroke and death. Jamie Wooldridge, President of BERKEYS is using this day to raise awareness, help our community and help seniors in need.

Older adults deserve recognition every day of the year. Not only are they a wealth of knowledge and experience, but they often help blaze a trail for the younger generations that came after them. While they are always held in high esteem, on August, 21st BERKEYS will donate 1 hour of labor to the Community Council of Greater Dallas (CCGD) for every post using #SeniorsRCool. Just post a photo volunteering or helping a senior in need on 8-21-2015, tag BERKEYS and CCGD will decided how and when the hours will be donated.

Keep in mind that during these hot Texas summer months, it is important to remember to check on seniors at least twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening. It is also a good idea to check the thermostat during these times, open or close the blinds and make sure they have enough water available for them to drink.
