By: A Matter of Interpretation NEW YORK - Aug. 13, 2015 - PRLog -- Sexual offenders prey on the most vulnerable and innocent of our population.
A sexual offender is a generic term for all persons convicted of crimes involving sex, including rape, molestation, sexual harassment and pornography production or distribution. The term sexual predator is used pejoratively to describe a person seen as obtaining or trying to obtain sexual contact with another person in a metaphorically "predatory" manner. Analogous to how a predator hunts down its prey, so the sexual predator is thought to "hunt “for his or her sex partners. Statics show that most victims know their perpetrator. The biggest enabler of offenders is secrecy. Many families still believe what happens in the family stays in the family which creates a cycle of sexual abuse. Ms. Downs speaks about date rape, molestation by a teacher, neighborhood friends as well as family members. The most important thing that she speaks about is the grooming process of the offender and how they select their victims. This is a must see show for everyone. Sexual abuse is not limited to any culture. https://www.youtube.com/ The final episode of the series will feature KALIMAH JOHNSON and will focus on Violence Against African American Women.
