Social Media Sharing the Good News

WAYNE, N.J. - Aug. 13, 2015 - PRLog -- On Saturday, September 26, 2015 the Xaverian Missionaries and the NJ Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America will be cosponsoring an ecumenical workshop, Social Media Sharing the Good News, led by Meredith Gould, Ph.D., noted author of THE SOCIAL MEDIA GOSPEL: SHARING THE GOOD NEWS IN NEW WAYS.  It will be held from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Princeton Junction, NJ, and include a complimentary lunch. Practical and simple ways to use the tools of social media in evangelization will be explored and evaluated.


Session 1: Frameworks for Understanding – barriers to success and what to do about them, for your own sanity and everyone else’s.

Session 2: Strategic Framework – distinguishing between strategy and tactics, and why you need to know this before choosing tools. Why and how to integrate social media across all digital platforms, including your website and e-newsletter. Hands-on Exercise: Strategic Planning.

Session 3: Social Media Tools – top choices for your church, why and how to use some and ditch others. Nitty gritty details for getting started, monitoring, and setting up a social media team (even if it’s only two people!).

Session 4: Making Sure Your Website Works – social media has almost completely changed what church websites must include…and what could be removed. Organizing content, using images (or not), why to use a CMS (content management system) that you control, and how to not get hosed by a designer/developer/vendor.
