Freedom Farmers’ Market Launches ‘Like it Fresh’ Summer/Fall Series

OAKLAND, Calif. - Aug. 18, 2015 - PRLog -- Farms to Grow Inc.’s, Freedom Farmers’ Market establishes ‘Like it Fresh,’ a variety of educational and fun activities for Summer-Fall 2015, for Oakland residents to experience, and understand the significance of buying from small farmers. Emphasis is on eating nutritiously to attain physical health and wellbeing while explaining how small, underrepresented farmers have fared. ‘Like it Fresh’ activities include:

·       ‘Like it Fresh’ Cooking, a 6-week cooking class focused on preparing produce to be eaten alone or as an accompaniment.

·        ‘Like it Fresh Families,’ an opportunity at the Saturday market where kids and parents are encouraged to taste and sample any one of the participating farmers recently harvested fruits and vegetables. Learn healthy school lunch options and tips.

·       ‘Like it Fresh’ Budding Poets Contest, on October 24 contestants will arrive at 11 am to read their original works about farming and essential benefits of eating fresh produce. Winner will be chosen to read at our annual fundraiser in November celebrating our farmers.

“We are very excited about the ‘Like it Fresh’ campaign because it enables us to connect with Oakland’s Temescal families and families across the city of Oakland to provide them with affordable healthy food options, nutritional education and activities to counter eating habits they may have acquired or learned overtime, which really don’t serve them well financially, physically, or emotionally,” said Elaine Smith, Executive Director of Farms to Grow Inc..
