NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Aug. 12, 2015 - PRLog -- Interview by Mr. Whiskers @mrwhiskersmedia

Walking through the hot pit area on a sweltering Saturday afternoon, I was on the hunt for a racer to Cover for NSC, the icy blue car with the golden yellow 46 grabbed my attention. The name on the car read “Cole Williams” and immediately I knew I had heard this name before. The name screams winner like a set of tires peeling around the curve of a hot track on a blistering summer night. This nineteen year old driver's name has became synonymous with checkered flags. His masterful driving and numerous wins has made Williams a southern racing fan favorite. Yet with all the success behind the wheel you would suspect a cocky rock star demeanor, but that's not the case with Cole. He is a portrait of humbleness and is grateful for each victory he grabs. Here is a short interview with Cole Williams.

1. With 51 feature wins in 129 starts, one could say you were born to race. When did it become apparently clear to you that you wanted to make a career out of racing?  Being a 5th generation driver, racing was all around me growing up. My great grandpa, great uncle, my dad, etc were all drivers.  As a child I loved to spend time in the garage as they were preparing the cars and watch the races every weekend. It has been a passion of mine since the day I could understand what the sport was.

2.     You won your second race of 2015 at Fairgrounds Speedway Nashville the August 1st Back to School Race, after Sterling Marlin and Josh Weston were disqualified, and won Saturday night at @i44speedway, how do you feel you chances are to win the 2015 All-American 400?    Obviously, getting a win by default is not the way we want to win, but being a small family team with a limited budget you definitely won't see me complaining.  As far as the AA400, I think we have as good of a shot as anyone to win.  I have good equipment and a great team to help get the job done.  Just need to stay focused and with God riding with me, I feel we have a chance to win this prestigious race.

3. When your not racing, what do you find yourself doing?  We spend several nights a week at the garage preparing the race cars.  I also work days at Rite-Way Industries, as well as going to college to become an engineer. In addition to that I enjoy kayaking (when time allows) and spending time with family and friends.

4. You race for your family owned race team. Do you think there is more pressure on you racing for family or if you raced for someone else?   I feel there is pressure on both sides.  I've never really had the opportunity to drive for anyone else, but I would definitely feel pressure to ensure their equipment didn't get torn up.  However, racing for family on a limited budget, I have to ensure the car stays in one piece.  If something happens it can eliminate races from our schedule.

5. When you come to Nashville, Tn to race, do you have any favorite spots you like to visit? We don't get the opportunity to spend a lot of time in Nashville, but when spare time presents itself we like to go run go-karts at Music City Indoor Karting, eat, and hang out down on Broadway listening to the live music.

6. Who's your favorite NASCAR driver?  Dale Jr and Kyle Busch.

7. What do you see for your future in racing?   I hope to drive in one of the 3 premiere series of NASCAR and to be successful at it someday, but for now we are looking to continue racing late models as a family team and look around for some rides at the next level.

8.  How has the Kulwicki DDP program helped you as a racer?  The KDDP program has given me the opportunity to learn more about Alan and his career.  Our stories are a lot alike - racing on a small budget, having a borrowed hauler etc.  It has given me the motivation to keep reaching for my dreams and I know with hard work and dedication  they really can come true.  Also, the support & encouragement of everyone involved with the KDDP is awesome, not to mention it is a great conversation starter with the fans.  Everyone loved Alan and his legacy lives on to this day.

What do you like about the Nashville track? What about that track helps you be so successful racing on it?  I love the Fairgrounds Speedway Nashville.  There is so much history and prestige.  Just knowing that so many NASCAR stars have raced and continue to race on this track makes you feel big time.  I also love the characteristics of the track itself; the bumpy multi-grooved oval. Racing here has boosted my confidence as a driver because some of the best pro-late model drivers in the country race here.
