Aug. 12, 2015 - PRLog -- Many of the men and women running for President in 2016 have made statements of their support for veterans.  JD Simpson - President & Founder of Three Hots and A Cot, a 501c3 nonprofit formed by veterans to support veterans has invited all of these candidates to demonstrate that support by coming out to a groundbreaking for a new initiative in Arizona to provide premantent, affordable housing for veterans.

The organinzation is hopeful that the candidates can set aside their political differences to come together and support a cause they all should be on board with.  There are many issues facing our next President - and veterans needs should be near the top of that list.

JD Simpson states "I have sent the below letter to all declared Presidential Candidates as of today for 2016.  I will also invite the Governor of Arizona, the two Senators and Congressman Gosar – I  am trying to help veterans with affordable housing at Fort Comfort Veterans Village www.veteran-village.org

I need to raise awareness of the needs of our veterans and what we can do to help them.  On September 4, 2015 at noon I will be sitting at the Fort Comfort Veterans Village site on Route 66 West of Ash Fork, AZ with a line of  shovels and 22 Presidential Candidate’s names on them for a Ground Breaking Ceremony."

Directions to the event:  Exit 139 off of I-40 west of Ash Fork, AZ.  Go west on Historic Route 66 for four miles.  About 200 yards past the 154 mile marker on Historic Route 66 – you will see the flags and the shovels on the left.  Pull over and join in the festivities.

Here is the text of the letter submitted to each candidate for consideration in coming out and supporting veterans.

Dear Presidential Candidate,

I have just returned from meeting with President George W. Bush – which as I am sure you know – an incredible honor.  Our organization - Three Hots &A Cot was one of 25 nonprofits out of nearly 46,000 that worked with the President’s study on providing services to Post 9/11 Veterans.  I am JD Simpson – founder & president of Three Hots & A Cot formed by veterans to serve veterans.

I am reaching out to you in hopes you can help me with our initiative to serve veterans in Arizona.  I have done everything I can think of to try and get folks to help us serve our veterans – figured they served us – we need to do the same for them in their time of need.  I have emailed, mailed, twittered, Facebooked, instagramed – done about everything I can think of besides tackling people in the lobby of their place of business – and that should be somewhere on my list of things to do – just to get someone’s attention.  I am one fat Navy Veteran on my knees begging for some help for our veterans.  So – I pray you take a few minutes – check us out – and then grab a phone or and keyboard and reach out to me.

You are running for President – I see the news clips of you talking about support of our veterans – so I am asking for your support.  Here is an idea – if I can get you – and maybe a few more candidates for President – to swing on by Fort Comfort Veterans Village site in Ash Fork, AZ and stick a shovel in the ground to help us with a ground breaking – then the media attention alone would get us the financial support we need for our veterans.  On September 4, 2015 about 1200 – I will have the shovels ready – you bring your smile – a nice little speech – and some cameras.  The American people will take it from there......

Three Hots and A Cot is here to fill the gap and to help those who have served reclaim their lives and their place in the community.  Our primary mission is to assist homeless military veteran’s transition from life on the streets into a self-sustained lifestyle and to provide all veterans with affordable housing.  Fort Comfort Veterans Village will focus on providing permanent and affordable housing.

Fort Comfort Veterans Village will not be our first dive into the pool.  We have been treading water and swimming laps for a few years now.  We will reach out to donors for everything we need.  Our donors will be individuals, organizations and corporations.  This project’s projected cost is $6,847,000.  This will provide over 60 homes for veterans, surviving spouses and Gold Star Families.  We will need to raise about $500,000 to get it off the ground.  So I realize we have our work cut out for us.  Please see our website at www.veteran-village.org for more information on our Arizona Initiative.  Also or web site www.cotsforvets.org for the work we have successfully completed and continue to do in Alabama.

I am sorry – I have nothing to offer in return for your help except my gratitude – and maybe a cup of coffee.  I know this is a long shot – but sir – that is all I have to throw in the mix now – I will take any shot I can to help my fellow veterans.  You hold the key to our success in this venture.  I pray you jump on board with us.
