SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Aug. 11, 2015 - PRLog -- Licensed Professional Investigator and former City of Santa Clara Police Officer Thomas Haverty has been appointed by the Selective Service System to serve as a local board member for the State of California. Local board members are nominated by state governors or equivalent officials, and appointed by the Director of the Selective Service System on behalf of the U.S. President. They play an important community role closely connected with our nations defense.

Mr. Haverty is currently serving as the Director of Investigations for Strategic Investigative Services, located in Fresno, CA. He previously served the residents of California as a twenty year veteran of law enforcement service.

During his law enforcement career he was involved with counter-terrorism intelligence and homeland security activities as a terrorism liaison officer. He is currently a private-sector partner with the Northern California Regional Intelligence Center, the California Resiliency Alliance, and FBI InfraGard. Mr. Haverty is certified to conduct DHS/FEMA level threat and risk assessments related to chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, explosive, and natural disaster events.

Mr. Haverty has been recognized for his dedication and service by the California State Senate, the U.S. Department of Justice Federal Bureau of Investigation, and various civic organizations.

The two-part mission of the Selective Service System is to provide manpower to the armed forces in an emergency, and to run an alternative service program for men classified as conscientious objectors during a military draft.
