ORLANDO, Fla. - Aug. 12, 2015 - PRLog -- Sunshine Artist Magazine (http://www.sunshineartist.com) today announced the release of its 23rd annual 200 Best, ranking the nation’s most-profitable art & craft festivals based on subscribers’ sales performance in 2014.

Launched in 1993, the 200 Best is split into two categories: Fine Art & Design, for events that focus on unique, museum-quality pieces in either 2-D or 3-D, and Classic & Contemporary Craft, for events that focus on traditional or modern craft and production work. This year’s #1 Fine Art & Design show is State College, Pennsylvania’s Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts, and the #1 Classic & Contemporary Craft show is Hamburg, New York’s Christmas in the Country. The entire 2015 list is available exclusively in Sunshine Artist’s September 2015 issue.

To obtain the annual rankings, ballots are included with Sunshine Artist subscribers’ April issues. Subscribers are then asked to list their 10 most-profitable art and/or craft show appearances from the previous year, indicate their income range at each and note whether they consider themselves to be fine artists or craftspeople. The results are tabulated using a weighted scale designed to ensure that smaller fairs can compete against mammoth festivals for high placement.

The 200 Best focuses solely on revenue because that’s the most objective indicator of a show’s future success. Subjective attributes such as artist treatment, amenities, attendance levels, management or even overall quality can certainly impact sales, but they’re harder to gauge and therefore have no direct bearing on the rankings.

“For more than two decades, the 200 Best has been an invaluable resource to countless artists and craftspeople,” said Nate Shelton, Managing Editor of Sunshine Artist. “We encourage all professional exhibitors to secure a copy of the latest list for research purposes and to participate in 200 Best voting each and every year.”

Single copies of Sunshine Artist’s September 2015 issue, containing this year’s complete 200 Best, cost $15, with a year’s subscription to Sunshine Artist priced at $34.95/year. Mobile app editions of the monthly magazine are available for Android, iOS and Kindle devices for $19.99/year.
