VisitFlorida’s goal of attracting more British tourists through soccer sponsorship
VisitFlorida is hoping the sponsorship of Championship side, Fulham, ready for the new UK soccer season will bring in more UK tourists and Fulham aim to win some new United States fans.
Of course, Orlando already has a growing soccer following thanks to the increasing popularity and profile of Orlando City and its high-profile captain, Kaka.
UK buyers figure prominently among investors in Feltrim Group’s Central Florida developments, which is illustrated by the fact that half the homes in the recently opened Fountains at ChampionsGate project were sold to British buyers.

“It provides us with a fantastic opportunity to raise awareness of Florida’s diverse range of active holiday options and experiences including world-class sports, wonderful beaches and amazing theme parks.”
Fulham Chairman, Shahid Khan says, “I love Fulham and I love Florida, so naturally it brings me a lot of satisfaction to see two of my personal passions become one. But what’s most important is how much this partnership makes strategic sense for both Fulham and VisitFlorida. One of my stated goals has long been the expansion and development of Fulham as an international brand, particularly in the U.S.
“VisitFlorida has a great tourism and leisure story to tell in the competitive London and UK market, and I don’t think there can be a better way of communicating all Florida has to offer than through the power and following of Fulham Football Club.”
Mr Khan, a Pakistani-American billionaire businessman, is no stranger to US sport as he is the owner of American football side, Jacksonville Jaguars, in the National Football League.
Every year more than one and a half million Britons visit Florida, which is the number one long haul choice for UK families, according to travel body, ABTA.
Two-thirds of Britons under the age of 40 are thinking about a new life abroad, according to data from independent financial adviser deVere Group.
The survey found that 65% of respondents said they are ‘seriously considering’
Feltrim Group Chief Executive Officer, Garrett Kenny, says, “The sponsorship of Fulham will further raise the profile of Florida and kick-off holiday and real estate dreams of many Brits.
“We know that the more tourists come to Orlando to see Disney and Universal theme parks and enjoy our superb shops, entertainment, sport and sunny weather, the more will seek the exciting goal of buying holiday homes in Central Florida.”
