Follow on Google News | Lockside Art Center August 1 Event - a Great SuccessOur August 1 events at Lockside Art Center were a great success: our first birthday celebration, the dedication of Bob’s Olde Books Library, our annual Members’ Exhibition, and our Sculpture Exhibition.
By: Lockside Art Center We welcomed the largest number of attendees since we opened, and heard many great comments and stories. Many attendees noted how far we have come in our first year. Bob Giannetti, donor of some 275 books for Bob’s Old Books Library, read some poetry from his book, “Winter Visions”, and talked about his writing experiences and his poetry readings in Poland. Our Sculpture Gallery features an eclectic collection of carvings by Lockport’s Peggy Taylor. Peggy studied wood sculpture in Japan for five years, and was the first foreigner accepted into Kamakura Bori Society, members carve with knives, no power tools, no sandpaper. Our Members’ Exhibition features work by professional and emerging member artists from western New York and beyond. The exhibitions continue through September 5, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday noon - 4pm, and by appointment. (We welcome appointments.)
