CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Aug. 4, 2015 - PRLog -- WHAT: On Wednesday, August 12, 2015, Beat Brasserie, located in Cambridge, MA, steps into the most prominent Southern sounds of the 1960s and 1970s with an evening of Memphis soul. Wafting from the kitchen will be the aroma of Memphis-inspired barbeque dishes to bring guests out of Boston and to The River City. From 8:00PM – 11:30PM, guests are invited to enjoy Brian Thomas and his band’s reimagining of Stax Record soul music including Otis Redding, Sam & Dave, Wilson Pickett, Rufus Thomas and Booker T. & the M.G.’s.

Throughout the evening Executive Chef Ignacio Lopez will serve a variety of Memphis barbeque-inspired dishes, such as BBQ Pork Ribs and Memphis Smoked Brisket, in addition to the regular menu. Guests can complement the soulful musical and bold barbeque flavors with one of the restaurant’s dynamic 36 wines on tap, such as Qupe Vineyard Syrah, Stephen Ross Winery  Zinfandel, or J. Christopher’s “Cuvee Madame Rachou” Sauvignon Blanc. Continue to indulge with one of Beat’s signature cocktails, such as the Friend of the Devil Margarita ($12), made with Mezcal, lime, agave nectar, pineapple and hellfire bitters, or the Smokey the Bear ($15.50), made with Rittenhouse Rye, Amere Nouvelle, Vya sweet vermouth, and Balcones Brimstone whiskey.

Brian Thomas’s musical stylings began when he studied classic trombone under Dr. Harold Reynolds and jazz under Steve Brown at Ithaca College while pursuing a degree in music education. Upon moving to Boston, Thomas earned his master’s degree in Jazz Composition from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. He teaches band, jazz ensemble, music, history, and music theory at Canton High School while performing around the city as a freelance trombonist. Thomas and his band will be paying tribute to the gritty soul music of Otis Redding, Sam & Dave, Wilson Pickett, Rufus Thomas, and Booker T. & the M.G.’s.
