Celebrating a Shore Classic, 27th Annual Chowderfest invites everyone to the party on LBI, NJ

SHIP BOTTOM, N.J. - Aug. 3, 2015 - PRLog -- The summer is not over until after thousands have enjoyed Chowderfest Weekend on Long Beach Island. For 27 years, Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce, the century old regional business organization has brought member restaurants, merchants and volunteers together to host the iconic food festival. Enjoy unlimited chowder tasting, live music, children’s entertainment, and a food court are all part of the event, which is held rain or shine at the Taylor Avenue ball field, Ninth Street and Taylor Avenue in Beach Haven behind Bay Village. It has become a tradition for family and friends to meet up to say good bye to summer and welcome in the fall,  the party begins on October 3, 2015, for the fabulous Merchant Mart (free admission) where local vendors offer the best deals of the season under the big tents with holiday gifts, home décor, fashion, cosmetics, specialty products and Chowderwear from 10am to 5pm.

Sunday, October 4 time for the cook off! This year in addition to Red and White Chowders, there is a Creative Seafood Category with the area’s favorite restaurants including  Lefty’s Tavern, Stockton Seaview, The Black Whale Bar & Fish House, Shore Fire Grille and defending champion Stefano’s Seafood. White Competitors include Chicken or the Egg, Old Causeway, Country Kettle Chowda, TGI Friday’s Manahawkin, Buckalew’s Restaurant & Tavern, Sea Oaks Country Club, Pinziminio’s and defending champion Howard’s Restaurant. The Creative Seafood contestants to date include Cuisine on the Green & Biggy’s Beach Grill. In addition to the unlimited tasting, the Hawkins Road band will be performing popular shore favorites both days and the Chowderfest beers on tap will be Land Shark, Shock Top Pumpkin Spice, Beach Haus Winter Rental, Bud Light and Goose Island IPA. Due to high demand, new this year will be the Chowderfest Hard Cider Wagon featuring Stella Cidre, Strongbow Cider and McKenzie’s Pumpkin Jack. Sunday’s Cook Off is a ticketed event,  General Admission Tickets $25.00 Children’s Tickets (Ages 4-12 ) $10.00 VIP Tickets – $55.00 (VIP ticket includes a T-shirt and exclusive early admission at 10 am) There is free parking throughout Beach Haven, and a free Sunday Shuttle for additional parking can be picked up at 42nd St, 60th Street, 68th Street, 85th Street, 95th Street by ACME, 133rd near Wawa and Bicentennial Park Engleside Ave Beach Haven
