Follow on Google News | MyBabyBond.com is Born, the Only Crowd Funding Website to Support Paid Family LeaveBy: My Baby Bond After co-founders Kathleen Fleury, Noah Capetta, Jarett Schadlich, Rebecca Gildred, and Kristin Collins listened to parents’ countless stories of hardship, financial stress, lack of daycare options and just plain exhaustion, they decided to create a site where friends and family members could fundraise for parents-to-be. How does it work? On MyBabyBond.com, people are invited to contribute to a personal BabyBond (in lieu of or in addition to a traditional registry), raising funds to cover maternity or paternity leave for a specific set of expectant parents. Supporters decide how much time to gift and then the dollar amount is calculated for that time using a $20/hour measure (based on a fixed livable wage rate). Fundraisers simply sign up for a credit card processing account and watch their BabyBond grow along with their baby through crowd funding. BabyBond fundraisers are encouraged to get personal, showing potential supporters why this time is important to their family by uploading photos and video to enhance their BabyBond and share via Social Media. Users can also list non-monetary needs, such as a doula, nanny or traditional baby gear to source from their network. Like other crowdfunding sites, MyBabyBond collects a transaction fee from each donor. But one difference with MyBabyBond is that a portion (2%) of the transaction fee is set aside to contribute to A Better Balance, a work and family legal center. MyBabyBond is also currently in the process of starting its own non-profit to serve this need directly. "We passionately believe in the cause and know that in order to help as many expectant parents as we can, MyBabyBond has to continuously improve its site and user experience," To fund or start a BabyBond today, visit www.mybabybond.com.
